You’ve landed on our future “Store” page, which will soon be loaded with photos of the merchandise we will offer for on-line purchase.
The staff of Haw River Junction, “Select Americana,” has been working diligently to create a shopping experience and auction venue like no other. Since our inception in 2016, we have been working on creating a shopping experience that will satiate the collecting desire of collectors and auction goers alike. We’ve even refitted our name to “Haw River Junction,” as there is no “junk” involved, but Junction remains as we are situated on both sides of the railroad tracks.
We have acquired the 19C Holt’s Chapel church building that sits on West Main in Haw River, just over the tracks from our auction barn. Diane Eckland, owner and president of Haw River Junction has also owned and operated Shade Tree Construction since 1983. Specializing in historic preservation and restoration, Diane is bringing the chapel back to life honoring it’s past and decorating it for the future.
Haw River Junction will be offering our objects for sale through a myriad of methods. The convenience of on-line shopping through this website / virtual storefront will be available for those who wish to shop from home, as well as shopping by appointment.
We are not a shop with pretty glass or brown furniture. We are a shop of “Select Americana” treasures. We are a shop filled with very unique and rare finds. Carnival and Circus Collectibles including the “Strong Man” Hammer Game and “Fool the Guesser” decorate the walls, while the now retired circus elephant dressage drapes from the tin ceilings. Primitive Farm and Country Furniture that once housed pies, jams and grains stand proudly against the century old walls, Architectural elements decorate the wainscoting while the Factory and Machine Age stools, tables and lockers pieces blend amazingly with the simple lines of the past.
If you're lucky enough to be visiting while the iron horse goes down the tracks, you could be transported to another time as the old wooden chapel gives a little to the same vibrations it has withstood for the past hundred and twenty-seven years. And who knows, if you close your eyes and breathe deep, you may even be able to hear the church hymns blow through with the wind. We want to think of our Haw River Junction as a “destination” place where one can leisurely shop, admire, learn and wish for the treasure laid before them. Stay and chat with our educated staff and learn the provenance of the pieces for sale, or stop by on Wednesdays for free appraisals.
